Low density biomass can be converted into a high density Bio Oil using thermal decomposition; this process yeilds non-condensable gases, Bio Oil and Char. The non-condensable gases are recycled to provide heat for the system however they can also be cleaned and captured.
Bio Oil is a thick dark black fluid with a strong smokey odor, it can be used as a heating fuel in specially modified burners or as a source of chemicals for industry. Further treatment can also be used to upgrade it to higher quality fuels. The char can be upgraded to activated carbon for industry or used as a slow release fertlizer.
